The Bar W Ranch Way

Here at the Bar W Ranch, our family has been proudly farming and ranching in the Brazos Valley of Central Texas since 1860. Together, we specialize in all-natural, pasture-raised Black and Red Angus cattle. We combine the most modern techniques in land stewardship and rotational grazing practices to ensure nothing short of premium beef and high-quality program cattle raised ethically through stress-free handling and eco-friendly ranching practices.

Founded by Reuben Anderson, the ranch has been passed down in the Anderson family for over 6 generations where together, we look at long standing cow-calf ranching traditions through a regenerative and sustainable lens. We rotate on chemical free pastures as needed for each cow, calf, and bull to obtain optimal nutrients for natural and healthy growth. Our cattle are 100% natural, never given growth hormones or antibiotics, source and age verified, and carry reputable program tags.

We are soon introducing chickens as a biodynamic addition to our grazing program and will be offering pasture eggs and chicken.

Meet The Ranchers

In 2012, the Manterola’s took over the family operation with the intention of both continuing the multi-generational legacy as well as adapting modern practices in land management and low-intervention animal husbandry. Now, Alberto and his wife Jane are reshaping the ranching traditions with their three children Catherine, Tito, and Sallie Jane.

While Aggie’s Jane and Alberto run the majority of the cow-calf operations along with Jane’s brother Will Anderson, it is Catherine who heads up the retail, events, and rental arms of ranch life.

Boasting a 13+ year career in culinary events and marketing coupled with a background in French cooking and butchery + a certificate in holistic health, Catherine launched the retail side of The Bar W in 2023.

“We have been farmers and ranchers for over 6 generations, it’s in our DNA. Creating experiences and inspiring conversations around food is what I do. From Texas to Oregon, Mexico to France, I have been joyously consumed with the traditions of the table. I just figured it was time to bring both of them together back at the ranch.”
